Microsoft to Delay Release of ‘Recall’ AI Feature Over Security Concerns

Microsoft has decided to delay the rollout of its new AI-powered feature “Recall,” which tracks computer usage, due to privacy concerns, Reuters reports.

The feature tracks activities like web browsing and voice chats, creating a history stored on the computer that users can search for if they wish to remember something, even months later. Privacy issues were raised after the announcement, with some users fearing potential spying, and Elon Musk likening it to a “Black Mirror episode.”

Initially set to launch with new computers on June 18, Recall will instead be previewed with a smaller group through Microsoft’s Windows Insider Program (WIP) in the coming weeks. This decision aims to gather additional feedback and ensure a trusted and secure user experience before making it widely available to Copilot+ PC users.
