Britain’s Sunak Says He Grew Up Without Sky TV as Example of Hardship

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, whose wealth surpasses that of King Charles, claimed he went without “lots of things” during his childhood, including Sky TV, Reuters reports.

Sunak, the wealthiest prime minister in British history, amassed his fortune through his financial services career and his wife’s family’s wealth from Infosys. In an ITV interview, he used the example of not having Sky TV to illustrate the sacrifices made by his parents to pay for his education. The opposition Labour Party has criticized Sunak as being out of touch with ordinary people’s struggles due to his wealth, which is estimated at over £650 million, surpassing King Charles.

Sunak faced backlash for cutting short his attendance at D-Day commemorations in France to record the ITV interview, later apologizing for his brief stay after opposition parties accused him of neglecting his duties.
