Pro-Brexit Campaigner Nigel Farage Says He Will Run in the UK Election

Pro-Brexit and anti-immigration advocate Nigel Farage announced his return to British politics by taking the leadership of the right-wing party Reform UK and running for Parliament in the July 4 election, Associated Press reports.

Farage aims to contest the seat in Clacton-on-Sea, marking his eighth attempt to enter the House of Commons. Farage’s return could pose a challenge for British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party, which has been in power for 14 years and is currently trailing in the polls. Farage aims to position himself as the main opposition to a potential Labour government, as many anticipate the Conservative Party’s defeat. The Conservative Party accused Farage of inadvertently helping Labour by splitting the right-wing vote.

Farage criticized career politicians and mass immigration, emphasizing his commitment to his supporters and a political revolt against the status quo. Farage’s strategy is inspired by Canada’s Reform Party, which significantly influenced Canadian conservative politics.
