South Korea Bans Viral North Korea Propaganda Video Featuring Kim Jong Un

South Korea’s media regulator has banned access to a North Korean propaganda music video that portrays the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as a “friendly father” and “great leader,” Reuters reports.

The decision comes under the National Security Act, which restricts exposure to North Korean government websites and media to prevent the spread of propaganda. The video, titled “Friendly Father,” has gained unexpected popularity on social media platforms like TikTok despite its glorification of Kim Jong Un. Pyongyang frequently employs such propaganda to cultivate loyalty and maintain a personality cult around its leaders.

This move follows the blocking of some North Korean propaganda YouTube channels by South Korea’s regulator last year at the request of the spy agency.
