Ukraine Drones Strike Oil Refinery and Drone Factory Deep Inside Russian Territory

Ukrainian drones carried out strikes on a major oil refinery and a drone factory in the province of Tatarstan, marking one of Kyiv’s deepest incursions into Russian territory since the conflict began, Associated Press reports.

The attack near Yelabuga and Nizhnekamsk, over 1,200 kilometers from Ukraine, injured 12 people, according to Russian regional authorities. Ukrainian drones, equipped with extended-range capabilities, have increasingly targeted Russian refineries and oil terminals in recent months, aiming to offset Ukraine’s military disadvantages.

Russian officials stated that industrial production was not disrupted and that the strike was thwarted by air defenses. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu accused Kyiv of attempting to divert attention from its military setbacks. Ukraine continues to its drone capabilities, including sea drones that have successfully targeted Russian navy ships in the Black Sea.
