Russia Demands Extradition of Ukraine Security Service Head, Ukraine Refuses

Russia has accused Ukraine of being connected to terrorist acts committed in Russia and demanded that Ukraine hand over all individuals involved, including the head of Ukraine’s SBU Security Service, Reuters reports.

The Russian Foreign Ministry accuses Ukraine of involvement in violent incidents in Russia since the 2022 invasion of Ukraine by Kremlin forces. Among those listed for extradition is SBU head Vasyl Maliuk, who admitted involvement in attacks on a bridge linking Crimea to Russia. Ukraine’s SBU dismissed the demand as pointless, highlighting an international arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin issued by the International Criminal Court.

The demand comes after a mass shooting at a music hall in Moscow, with Russian officials suggesting a link to Ukrainian nationalists, which Kyiv denies. Russian investigators are working to determine responsibility for the attack.
