Poland Says Russian Missile Entered Its Airspace During Attack on Ukraine

Poland demanded an explanation from Russia after a missile briefly entered Polish airspace during a major missile attack on Ukraine, prompting Poland to activate its F-16 fighter jets, Associated Press reports.

It was Russia’s third missile attack on Ukraine in four days, targeting Kyiv and critical infrastructure in Lviv region. The missile entered Polish airspace for 39 seconds near the border with Ukraine. Polish Defense Minister confirmed the airspace violation and the activation of F-16, stating that the missile would have been intercepted if it posed a threat to Poland.

The Polish foreign ministry intends to summon the Russian ambassador and issue a protest note. Since the invasion began, there have been intrusions into Polish airspace, reflecting the proximity of the war.
