Romanian Court Rejects Andrew Tate’s Bid to Get His Confiscated Assets Returned

Influencer Andrew Tate, who is facing charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal gang, had his request to return seized assets denied by a court in Bucharest, Associated Press reports.

The tribunal ruled in favor of Romania’s anti-organized crime agency DIICOT stating that the assets will remain seized. The seized assets included 15 luxury cars, 14 designer watches, and cash, valued at 3.6 million euros. DIICOT also identified 10 properties owned by the Tate brothers, which could be used to fund investigations and compensate victims if authorities can prove they were gained through illicit means.

Tate, along with his brother and two Romanian women, was arrested in December 2022. The Romanian case is ongoing, with no trial date set yet. Andrew claims the charges against him lack evidence and alleges a political conspiracy. The court also extended geographical restrictions, preventing the Tates from leaving Romania for another 60 days.

Separately, British authorities seek to extradite the Tates over sexual aggression allegations, but extradition will occur after the conclusion of legal proceedings in Romania.
