‘Dragon Ball’ Creator Akira Toriyama Dies Age 68

Akira Toriyama, the renowned creator of “Dragon Ball” and other beloved anime, passed away at 68 due to a brain blood clot, Associated Press reports.

His iconic “Dragon Ball” manga, which began in 1984, sold over 260 million copies worldwide and inspired numerous adaptations, including animated TV shows, video games, and movies. Toriyama was also known for his work on “Sand Land” and character designs for the Dragon Quest video game series.

Toriyama’s studio, Bird Studio, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from fans and fellow creators, with Eiichiro Oda, creator of “One Piece,” describing Toriyama as a “big tree” for younger artists.
