Google Hit with $2.3 Billion Lawsuit by 32 Media Groups

A group of 32 media organizations, including Axel Springer and Schibsted, have filed a €2.1 billion ($2.3 billion) lawsuit against Google alleging losses due to the company’s practices in digital advertising, Reuters reports.

The lawsuit, involving publishers from various European countries, accuses Google of creating a less competitive market through its misconduct, resulting in lower revenues for media companies. The group cites previous fines and charges against Google by regulatory authorities in France and the European Commission.

Google opposes the lawsuit, calling it speculative and opportunistic and stating that it collaborates with publishers across Europe. The lawsuit comes amid growing concerns about Big Tech’s dominance in advertising, with Google being the most dominant digital advertising platform globally.
