Ukraine Tells Allies They Are Outgunned Three-to-One by Russia

Ukraine has alerted its allies, highlighting a critical shortage of artillery shells as Russia deploys three times more firepower daily on the frontlines, Bloomberg reports.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov emphasized that Ukraine can only fire about 2,000 shells daily across its 1,500-kilometer frontline, less than a third of Russia’s ammunition usage. He urged EU allies to fulfill their pledge to supply a million artillery rounds.

The EU acknowledged it will deliver only half of the promised shells by March, with plans to provide an additional 600,000 by the end of the year. Ukraine requires 200,000 155mm shells monthly, while Moscow is estimated to receive almost twice that amount, with about one million shells coming from North Korea.

The EU plans to increase its annual production capacity to 2 million rounds by 2025, and the US is also increasing shell production to support Ukraine’s needs.
