Mark Zuckerberg Indicates Meta is Spending Billions on Nvidia AI Chips

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is investing billions of dollars in Nvidia’s H100 graphics cards, integral for artificial intelligence (AI) research and projects, CNBC reports.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, in an Instagram Reels post, revealed the company’s “future roadmap” for AI involves building a massive compute infrastructure, including 350,000 H100 graphics cards from Nvidia by the end of 2024.

These GPUs are integral to Meta’s pursuit of artificial general intelligence (AGI), a long-term vision for the company. Meta’s Chief Scientist Yann LeCun emphasized the importance of GPUs for AGI research, acknowledging the ongoing “AI war” and Nvidia’s role in supplying critical components.

Zuckerberg also mentioned that Meta plans to “open source responsibly” its yet-to-be-developed general intelligence.
