Ukraine’s Zelensky Participates in the World Economic Forum in Davos

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky strongly criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin at the World Economic Forum in Davos, urging political and business leaders to enforce sanctions, help rebuild Ukraine, and advance the peace process., Associated Press reports.

He emphasized that the conflict extends beyond Ukraine and portrayed his country as a defender of democracies. Zelensky thanked allies for sanctions imposed on Moscow but requested more aid from the EU and US. The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken affirmed Washington’s commitment to supporting Ukraine

Zelensky’s visit to Davos aimed to draw attention to Ukraine’s needs and rally international support amid concerns about war fatigue, waning interest and potential geopolitical developments.

Meanwhile, Putin rejected calls for peace talks, describing them as attempts to make Russia give up its gains.

Other leaders at Davos discussed various global challenges, including China’s economic pitch and the need for a two-state solution in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
