Rishi Sunak Visits Kyiv, Announces New Military Aid Package

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak visited Kyiv to announce a new support package for Ukraine, including £2.5 billion ($3.2 billion) in military funding for the next financial year, Associated Press reports.

The funding will cover long-range missiles, drones, air defense, artillery ammunition, and maritime security. The UK is the second-largest donor of military aid to Ukraine after the US, providing a total of £4.6 billion ($3.3 billion) in 2022 and 2023.

Sunak emphasized the UK’s commitment to stand with Ukraine amid the prolonged conflict with Russia, which both nations are preparing to replenish their arsenals for possible major ground offensives in 2025.

The announcement comes amid challenges in international support for Ukraine’s war effort, with delays in the US funding plan and Europe falling short on artillery shell deliveries.
