xAI Officially Launches ChatGPT Rival Grok on X

Elon Musk announced that his artificial intelligence startup xAI is releasing Grok, a ChatGPT competitor, for Premium+ subscribers on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Reuters reports.

Musk, who launched xAI in response to his criticisms of Big Tech’s AI efforts, aims to reduce the platform’s reliance on advertising and shift focus to subscriptions, intending to transform X into a “super app” offering various services.

Grok’s release comes as major tech companies, including Microsoft and Google, compete to launch AI-powered products in the wake of OpenAI’s success with ChatGPT.

Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015 but stepped down from the board in 2018.
