Google has launched Project Gemini, an advanced AI model designed to emulate human behavior, which is expected to be incorporated into Google’s AI-powered chatbot Bard and the Pixel 8 Pro smartphone, Associated Press reports.
The project will be introduced in phases, with initial versions called “Nano” and “Pro” integrated into Bard and Pixel 8 Pro. The more advanced “Ultra” model is expected to launch in 2024, enabling a juiced-up version of the chatbot called “Bard Advanced.”
Gemini, when fully deployed, is expected to bring significant advances in AI multitasking and problem-solving skills, particularly in math and physics. The project will eventually be integrated into Google’s search engine.
Critics express concerns about AI potentially eclipsing human intelligence and the associated risks, while proponents see the technology’s potential for scientific breakthroughs and benefits to society.
