Finland to Close Its Entire Border with Russia Over Migrant Concerns

Finland is closing its last border crossing with Russia, accusing Moscow of using migrants as part of “hybrid warfare” to destabilize the country following its entry into NATO, AP News reports.

Finland has already closed seven of eight checkpoints on its 1,340-kilometer border due to an increase in migrants arriving from the Middle East and Africa.

The government alleges that Russia has been orchestrating the entry of migrants into Finland, with around 1,000 migrants without visas or valid documentation arriving since August.

Russia denies encouraging migrants and regrets the border closures. The complete border closure is expected to last at least two weeks.
