Black Friday Shoppers Spent a Record $9.8 Billion in US Online Sales

Black Friday generated a record $9.8 billion in US online sales, marking a 7.5% increase from the previous year, according to Adobe Analytics, CNBC reports.

The best-selling categories on Black Friday were electronics, toys, and gaming, with smartwatches and televisions leading the sales, while home-repair tools underperformed.

Mobile shopping contributed significantly to the growth, with $5.3 billion in online sales originating from mobile devices. The ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’ payment method saw a 47% increase, reaching $79 million in sales.

The spending trend is expected to continue through Cyber Monday, with a forecast of $12 billion in online spending, but spending is likely to taper off as retailers reduce discounts for the rest of the holiday season.
