Sam Altman has been reinstated as CEO of OpenAI after being fired abruptly last week, following immense pressure from employees and investors, CNBC reports.
The move comes after hundreds of OpenAI employees, including co-founder Ilya Sutskever, signed a letter demanding the board’s resignation or they would leave. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also announced that Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman would join Microsoft to form a new AI research team.
Former Salesforce co-CEO Bret Taylor and former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers will join OpenAI’s board, with Taylor as the chairman.
