Microsoft has hired former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman to lead its new advanced AI research team, according to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, CNBC reports.
The announcement comes after Altman’s sudden departure from OpenAI, due to concerns about his lack of transparency with the board, with former Twitch CEO Emmett Shear taking over as the interim CEO.
Microsoft, which is heavily invested in OpenAI, would remain committed to the partnership and Nadella said he was looking forward to getting to know Shear and OpenAI’s new leadership team.
