Hollywood Actors End Strike After Reaching Tentative Deal with Studios

Hollywood actors have reached a tentative agreement on a three-year contract with major studies after nearly four months, AP News reports.

Over 60,000 members of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) went on strike on July 14, joining screenwriters in the first joint strike of the two unions since 1960.

The deal, which must be approved by the board and members, includes boosts to minimum payments to actors, a greater share of streaming revenue for performers, and protections against the use of artificial intelligence in recreating performances.

The strike’s end will bring actors back to movie sets, resume productions, and end delays in releases and show seasons, including “Deadpool 3,” “Gladiator 2” and “Wicked.”
