UK Approves Microsoft’s $69 Billion Acquisition of Activision Blizzard

The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has approved Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of gaming company Activision Blizzard, CNBC reports.

The CMA has cleared the deal after Microsoft offered concessions, including divesting cloud rights to French game publisher Ubisoft Entertainment.

Microsoft first proposed the acquisition of Activision Blizzard in January 2022 but has faced regulatory challenges in the US, Europe and the UK.

Regulators were concerned that the takeover would reduce competition in the gaming market, in particular around the emerging cloud gaming market.
