US Senator Dianne Feinstein, Dies at Age 90

Dianne Feinstein, California’s longest-serving senator and the oldest member of the US Senate, has passed away at her home in Washington, D.C. at the age of 90, CNBC reports.

Feinstein’s passing marks the end of a remarkable career, including becoming San Francisco’s first female mayor and the first California woman to hold a US Senate seat.

In her more than five-decade political career, Feinstein achieved major legislative accomplishments in areas such as gun control and environmental protection.

She was known for her pragmatism and willingness to work across party lines, which sometimes put her at odds with her own party’s progressive wing.

However, Feinstein’s health deteriorated in her final years and her refusal to step down came into conflict with fellow Democrats.
