Erdogan Says Turkey Will Back Sweden’s NATO Bid if US Keeps Promise on F-16 Sale

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that Turkey will ratify Sweden’s NATO membership if the US upholds its promise to supply F-16 fighter jets to Turkey, Bloomberg reports.

The US has indicated that Sweden’s NATO membership approval is a precondition for the sale of these fighter jets to Turkey.

Erdogan emphasized that as long as the US keeps its promises, the Turkish parliament will uphold its commitment regarding Sweden’s NATO accession.

The delay caused by Turkey’s opposition to Sweden’s NATO ascension has created tensions between Turkey and its NATO allies.
