Ukraine Files WTO Complaint Against Neighbours’ Grain Import Bans

Ukraine has filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) against Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary regarding a ban on Ukrainian food exports, Reuters reports.

Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko considers these restrictions a violation of the international obligations of EU member states.

These restrictions came after the European Commission decided not to extend its ban on grain imports from Ukraine.

However, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary have decided to impose their own bans in order to protect domestic farmers.
