EU Lifts Ban on Ukrainian Grain But Poland, Hungary Move to Impose Own Bans

The European Union (EU) has decided not to renew a ban on Ukrainian food exports, leading to tensions with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania, AP News reports.

These countries have argued that the influx of Ukrainian agricultural goods has flooded their markets, driving down prices for local farmers.

Poland has announced its intention to continue the ban on Ukrainian grain, regardless of the EU’s decision.

Hungary is not only extending its grain import ban but also imposing unilateral restrictions on 24 other Ukrainian agricultural products.
