G20 Announces India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor

The Group of 20 (G20) has announced plans for a major rail and shipping corridor that will connect India with the Middle East and Europe, AP News reports.

The rail and shipping corridor is expected to boost trade, enhance energy supply chains, and improve digital connectivity.

The ambitious project involves countries like India, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Israel, and the European Union.

The project is seen as an alternative and challenge to China’s Belt and Road Initiative, a large-scale infrastructure development program.

They also announced a “Trans-African Corridor” connecting the Angolan port of Lobito with landlocked areas of the continent.
