India has given initial approval for the purchase of 26 French marine Rafale jets and three Scorpene-class submarines, France 24 reports.
The proposals have been approved, but the price and other terms still need to be negotiated with the French government.
The Rafale jets will be deployed on India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, the INS Vikrant.
India was already buying six Scorpene submarines, the new order will add three additional vessels.
