Wagner to Hand Over Bakhmut to the Russian Army by June 1

On Monday, the leader of Russia’s Wagner Group Yevgeny Prigozhin said that his forces controlled the city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, Deutsche Welle reports.

In an audio message posted on Telegram, Prigozhin said he was prepared to hand over the city to the Russian army between May 25 and June 1.

Ukraine disputes the information and claims to still hold on to a small part of the city, while advancing on the flanks in the suburbs of Bakhmut.
