G7 Nations Agree on New Sanctions Against Russia

On Friday, the Group of Seven (G7) major industrial countries agreed on tougher sanctions against Russia at the summit in Hiroshima, Japan, Deutsche Welle reports.

The new sanctions apply to industrial machinery, tools and other technology with the aim to “starve Russia’s war machine” CNN reports.

The group also agreed to build on efforts to “ensure that Russia is no longer able to weaponize the availability of energy.”

On Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to attend the G7 meeting.
