Germany Shuts Down Its Last Nuclear Power Plants

On Saturday, Germany will shut down its last three nuclear power plants as part of its plan to transition into renewable energy by 2035, reports Reuters.

The shutdown was delayed from last summer following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine which created an energy crisis in the region.

“By phasing out nuclear power, Germany is committing itself to coal and gas because there is not always enough wind blowing or sun shining.”
