China to Require Security Reviews for AI Services Like ChatGPT

China will require generative AI services to undergo a security assessment before being allowed to operate in the country, reports Bloomberg.

AI operators must ensure that the content is accurate, respects intellectual property and clearly labels it as AI-generated content, according to the Cyberspace Administration of China.

Chinese tech giants like Alibaba, SenseTime and Baidu all aim to develop generative AI platforms to challenge OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
