Finland’s Marin Steps Down as Party Leader after Election Loss

On Wednesday, Finland’s outgoing Prime Minister Sanna Marin announced she would resign as leader of the Social Democratic party (SDP), reports Reuters.

Starting next week, Marin told a news conference she will serve as a regular lawmaker in the newly elected parliament.

She added that she would not run for president and had not received any offers for international positions.

Last Sunday, the SDP became the third largest party in the election after the National Coalition Party and the Finns Party.
