NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) has discovered an exoplanet 95% the size of Earth and within the habitable zone of its star.
The newly discovered planet is called TOI 700 e and is located around 100 light years away in a solar system with other potential habitable planets.
The rocky planet is within the habitable zone of a star, neither too close nor too far, which means the temperature could potentially sustain life.
Planets TOI 700 b, c and d were previously discovered, but it took another year to spot TOI 700 e due to its small size and distance.
