Texas has filed a lawsuit against Google for allegedly collecting biometric data of millions of Texans without obtaining proper consent.

Companies operating in Texas requires informed consent in order to collect people’s faces, voices or other biometric data.

The complaint claims that Google collects data through products like Google Photos, Google Assistant, and Nest Hub Max.

“AG Paxton is once again mischaracterizing our products in another breathless lawsuit. We will set the record straight in court.”

Google said it would contest the lawsuit, arguing that users of their services have the option to turn off the biometric collection feature.
