Finland to Join European Neighbours and Close Its Borders to Russian Tourists

On Thursday, Finland announced it would close its border to Russian tourists at midnight, after almost 17,000 Russians crossed the border into Finland during the weekend.
On Monday, Finnish authorities said that nearly 17,000 Russians had crossed the border into Finland during the weekend, an 80% rise from a week earlier.

Following last week's mobilization announcement, there has been a surge of Russians trying to leave the country out of fear of being drafted.

Earlier in September, the Baltic states and Poland took the same measures, claiming that Russian tourists posed a national security threat.
There are indications that Russian authorities have changed their policy and have started stationing military officials at crossing points on the Russian side.
