Carlos Alcaraz Defeats Casper Ruud to Win 2022 US Open Title, Becomes World’s Youngest No. 1

On Sunday, Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz defeated Norway's Casper Ruud with 6-4 2-6 7-6(1) 6-3 in the US Open final, to win his first Grand Slam title.
"This is something I dreamed of since I was a kid, to be number one in the world, to be the champion at a Grand Slam."

- Carlos Alcaraz
The 19-year-old is the youngest world number one since the ATP rankings began in 1973, breaking Lleyton Hewitt's previous record of 20-years-old in 2001.

Ruud was attempting to become the first Norwegian to take it home, but that was not to be, he will instead rise to second in the world from number seven.
"Number two is not too bad either. I will continue to chase for my first Grand Slam and the number one world ranking."

- Casper Ruud
