Brazil Suspends Sales of Charger-Less iPhones, Fines Apple $2.3 Million

The Brazilian government has halted the sale of iPhones without chargers and Apple is also facing a BRL$12,275,500 fine ($2.3 million) by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP).
In 2020, Apple announced it would no longer provide power adapters to its new iPhone and EarPod headphones, citing environmental reasons.

However, the Brazilian government claim that Apple only passed the cost to the consumer, since it did not reduce to price of iPhones.

In 2021, the consumer protection agency Procon-SP in the state of São Paulo fined Apple $2 million over the iPhone 12, considering it an incomplete product.
"Therefore, it is understood that the price is mainly determined by commercial strategy instead of corresponding to production costs."

Samsung faced similar consequences from the Brazilian government, but relented and decided to provide free chargers to customers in Brazil.
