Novak Djokovic Withdraws from US Open, Unable to Travel to the United States Due to Vaccine Status

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic withdraws from the final Grand Slam event of the year, due to lack of Covid-19 vaccination.
"Sadly, I will not be able to travel to NY this time for US Open. Thank you #NoleFam for your messages of love and support. Good luck to my fellow players! I'll keep in good shape and positive spirit and wait for an opportunity to compete again. See you soon tennis world!"

Djokovic has said he will not get the Covid-19 vaccine, even if it prevents him from competing in some tournaments.

In January, he missed the Australian Open after having been deported ahead of the tournament and receiving a three-year ban.
Djokovic did participate in the French Open, where he lost in the quarterfinals to Rafael Nadal.

Last month, he won Wimbledon claiming his 21st Grand Slam victory, one less than Rafael Nadal's men's record of 22 Grand Slam titles.
