Finland and Sweden Set to Join NATO After Turkey Drops Objection

Finland and Sweden appear set to join NATO after Turkey agreed to remove its objection to the Nordic nations' application.

Turkey had previously blocked Finland and Sweden from joining NATO, due to their support of Kurdish organizations and concerns over terrorism.

Turkey, Finland and Sweden have signed a memorandum stating they would not support the YPG/PYD, and FETO, to address Turkey's concerns.

On Wednesday, Finland and Sweden will formally be invited to join the organization. The application will then seek the required approval from each NATO member state.
