G7 Leaders Meet in Germany to Discuss the War, Food and Energy, and the Global Economy

On Sunday, G7 leaders gathered in Germany for a summit to discuss the war in Ukraine, the impact on food and energy supplies and the global economy.
As the global economy is heading for a downturn, questions rise over leaders' willingness to maintain the pressure campaign as the war drags on.

The G7 leaders have agreed to declare a restriction on the import of new gold from Russia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will appears virtually at the G7 and NATO to appeal for more sanctions and more military assistance.

The G7 leaders pledge to raise $600 billion in funds for developing countries to offset China's expanding influence and mitigate the effects of soaring food and energy costs.

Following the EU's proposal to accelerate transition to clean energy, Germany and the UK, are turning back to coal in order to replace the lost gas. 

Biden's administration have prioritized to lower gas prices at home, with Biden recently supporting a gas tax holiday.
For the first time, leaders from Asia, including those from Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and South Korea, will attend the summit as guests.
