Microsoft is Shutting Down Internet Explorer After 27 Years

Internet Explorer is set for discontinuation on June 15, 2022.

New feature development for Internet Explorer was discontinued in 2016 in favor of the new browser Microsoft Edge.
"The future of Internet Explorer on Windows 10 is in Microsoft Edge. Microsoft Edge has Internet Explorer mode ('IE mode') built in, so you can access those legacy Internet Explorer-based websites and applications straight from Microsoft Edge."

- Sean Lyndersay, Microsoft Edge program manager
The Internet Explorer web browser was first released in 1995.

The browser reached its peak in 2003 with around 95% usage share.
